07 Dec 4 Reasons to Send Messages to the Children of Casa Vallado
by Elisabeth Brown
Everyone craves encouragement in some form or fashion, and there is so much power behind a message, whether it be written or videoed, especially to children. The feeling a child gets when they see an envelope, or email, with their personal name on it makes their heart skip a beat as excitement builds up in them, knowing that somebody somewhere cared enough about them to send them a letter. So, the team at Casa Vallado thought we would you give 4 reasons to allow God to speak through you to these kids. These messages provide love, support, and hope to children in ways we cannot even imagine.
1. Messages help people to see beyond their circumstances and show Jesus’ love and grace to those who need it most.
Sometimes in the darkest of times, it’s easy for all of us to forget our purpose and our creator. The children may be unable to see beyond their current circumstances and need a reminder that they are loved by a gracious and wonderful God, and we have an opportunity to remind them of that. Despite where Paul was in any of his letters, he never complained about his life and continually encouraged other people to see the world outside of their own lives. “We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies.” 2 Corinthians 4:8-10.
2. Messages provide value to the reader over and over again.
As proven time and time again, letters are a keepsake and wonderful reminder to anyone on the receiving end. On their darkest day, or their best, the children of Casa Vallado are able to turn to your words again to feel encouraged, valued, and loved, what an amazing gift to give someone. “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.” 1 Thessalonians 5:11.
3. Messages are encouraging
Messages inspire people to continue moving forward, push through the trials of life, and pursue change regardless of their circumstances. Sitting down and writing a letter or typing up a message to an orphan can and will encourage them when they read it, and any other time they visit the words. Don’t hold back, sit down, write, and love someone today.
4. Messages help build cross-cultural relationships
The power of words in a child’s life are endless as seen here from Emanuel thanking his pen pal!
