A Safe Place To Dream

A Safe Place To Dream

by Jeanette Perez,  Client Relations Coordinator

Summer is an anticipated season for many. It’s filled with sunlight, plenty of outdoor activities, vacations, and hopefully plenty of time for memorable moments. Summer is a time of seemingly endless daylight hours. In an entrepreneurial city like ours (Austin), people are bringing ideas to life from sunrise to sunset, every single day. Many are relentlessly pursuing space in a variety of fields, and this is a city that fosters the brave ones who embark on such a journey.

Andrea & Isaak are starting a business selling pots and pans.
Estevan's dream is to be an acrobat and attend nursing school.
Jaqui is currently apprenticing at a dentist office to become a Dental Assistant.

The profile of an entrepreneur is unique. It carries an ego that is channeled towards self-empowerment in a treacherous journey of roadblocks, failure, and perseverance. The few fortunate ones who succeed are a captivating beauty for those watching on the sidelines. Entrepreneurs don’t conform easily. They push boundaries and see a world of endless possibility. The resulting confidence on the side of triumph is totally and completely visible. And attaining that confidence is something one carries with them for a lifetime.

However, it’s harder to live this way. It’s harder to persevere. And yet deep inside, we all believe we are meant to be people that radiate confidence, life and joy. It is powerful, and it is contagious.

What happens when life is filled with “I wish I would have” regrets? What happens when dreams remain dormant and cynicism settles in? For centuries, man has fought against the idea of conformity, the kind of compliance that extinguishes dreams and buries relentless spirits. Worse, is the frustration of those who never even get the opportunity to try?

Jesus said in Matthew 17:20, “If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to here,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” During the past decade, The Vallado Project has labored under the relentless belief that our work is breaking grounds in the orphanage system. It is bringing hope, breathing life, and giving opportunity where none existed. Because of your generosity, there’s a house filled with protected, healthy, confident and thriving children who now have the opportunity to dream big dreams.

In our modern world of entrepreneurial endeavors we have to believe without a shadow of a doubt in ourselves, our products and ideas, and in the long process towards success. But when our identity is wrapped up in the person of Jesus and the truth of the Gospel, we know who we are and we know that God himself endorses our individual callings. I envision the children at Casa Vallado beaming and radiating with this kind of identity, with this powerful and contagious kind of confidence. Will you consider these words as an invitation to contribute towards our mission? You can send a tax-deductible donation, you can write life-giving words to a child on through our Pen Pal program, and you can continue to pray for the bright hope of our budding entrepreneurs, doctors, lawyers, teachers, engineers, and world changers.

Happy summer days!

Sebastian’s Dream

Meet Sebastian. He is a 14 year old young man who was nearly killed in a bus accident when he was 2. He and his 3 sisters live at Casa Vallado and Sebastian’s dream is to be a professional musician and music teacher. This teenage boy is gifted and thriving in his pursuit of his dreams.

Give hope to a child in need. Come, join the project.
